How do I join the beta?
MessMate is in a closed Android beta with a small set of messes. If you run a mess or study near one that's on MessMate, get in touch and we'll add you.
Do students pay through the app?
No. You pay the mess owner directly in cash or over UPI, exactly as you do today. The app records the subscription once the owner activates it — it never handles the money.
What if my phone has no signal at the counter?
Your meal pass is cached on the device, and the owner's scanner queues scans locally when it's offline. Everything reconciles automatically once either side is back online.
Can someone screenshot my pass and use it?
No. The pass is a short-lived signed code that refreshes on a timer, and each meal slot can only be claimed once per day.
Is there an iPhone app?
Android first. The iOS build exists but hasn't been through device testing yet.
